About Us
Soulshine Equine Therapy sees the good in you, draws out your strengths, builds on your innate resiliency. We believe that horses are medicine, nature is healing, and people are good.

Our Story
Soulshine Equine Therapy was born out of the need for people to engage in therapy outside of the traditional office talk therapy experience. Based in southwest Longmont, we incorporate nature, horses, and dogs to help people become the best versions of themselves. Soulshine Equine Therapy specializes in mental health for children, adolescents, teens, and young adults. Equine sessions are popular, but we offer so much more: walk-and-talk therapy, parent coaching, executive functioning support, and home-to-school guidance. This is true hands-on therapy; we identify clients' needs and then work together to help them build skills, resilience, and confidence to empower them to make the changes they deserve and desire.
About The Therapist
About Kristi
Bringing Healing Through Equine Therapy
Therapeutic Approach: Kristi is quick to see the good in clients, draw out their strengths, and help them build on their innate resiliency. She uses a person-centered approach to meet each client where they are with empathy and judgement-free positive regard. Kristi believes that therapy can be fun and empowering, she brings a light heartedness to her sessions and is not afraid to share a good laugh with her clients. Kristi is a Colorado native, and was fortunate enough to have grown up with horses. Not aware of it at the time, but her work with horses as a child and adolescent helped her gain confidence and a sense of self that has helped her through the hardest of times. She seeks to share with clients the same gift she had growing up; resilience through connecting with animals and nature. Kristi is trained and well versed in CBT, DBT, SFT, and Mindfulness.
In addition to applying therapeutic principles to experiential therapy, Kristi also has a keen interest and talent in working with clients with ADHD. She uses her own lived experiences and vast knowledge of the research on ADHD to help with clients navigate the challenges of this diagnosis while harnessing their ADHD superpowers!

Kristi has worked with youth ages 4-18 in the school and community setting for nearly 20 years. She has a Master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado and an undergraduate degree from Colorado State University. Kristi has worked extensively in the K-12 school setting providing individual and group therapy. She is highly knowledgeable about the school system and helps families bridge the home-to-education gap by advocating for her clients to increase their success in both settings. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys trail running, yoga, and gardening, and finds joy in raising her two young boys and a lively labrador puppy.

Horses are incredible creatures that embody strength and gentleness. Their innate ability to sense human emotions and reflect them back creates a unique therapeutic environment. In our sessions, we harness this powerful connection to help clients develop confidence, trust, and social skills. For youth who may resist talk therapy, being with these gentle animals outdoors can unlock their true selves and foster self-efficacy.

Equine sessions are held at a ranch west of Longmont.

Welcome to our innovative approach to therapy! We understand that traditional talk therapy may not resonate with every child or teenager, especially those who are resistant to speaking openly. That's why offer walk and talk therapy, which has proven to be effective for clients struggling with anxiety and depression. Whether it's at their favorite park or walking trail in the Longmont Boulder area, we create a comfortable environment for our clients to explore their feelings and engage in therapy. On chilly days, we can retreat to a nearby coffee shop to keep the conversation going over a warm drink.
